On
Saturday, October 6, 2007 riders revved up for the fight against breast cancer on this year’s
week long Polka Dot Tour, 2007.Pink polka-dot ribbons, symbolizing breast cancer infused with ATTITUDE,
flew as survivors and supporters hit the streets on
motorcycles and RVs, circling the state of Florida to bring awareness to
the growing number of women diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
This
incredible team of riders was on a mission to impact America, one
community, one woman, and one mile at a time.Beginning in Tampa, with stops in Ozello,
Panama City, Wakulla Springs, Jacksonville, Daytona, Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Key Largo,
Miccosukee Reservation, Naples, Ellenton and New Port Richey, this team of supporters, survivors, doctors, friends, family
members and other concerned leaders took the message to the streets
that this deadly disease must end.
The
Polka Dot Tour 2007 riders
spread the important message of self-examination, early diagnosis,
minority health disparities, treatment options and clinical trials as they
spread the power of attitude, hope, courage and perseverance in the face
of such adversary. This team of riders journeyed through the streets of key cities
and communities throughout the Florida tour, to stage rallies in support
of cancer education.Visits were made to hospitals, courthouse steps, clinics and
venues attracting new supporters along the way with a new attitude in the
fight against breast cancer.
We are
all so proud of our riders and the entire crew for their commitment to
this endeavor. We are so appreciative to everyone who has supported our
tour either by showing up at our events, writing in the blog, sending
e-mails of support, or simply by reading our journal along the way. We
thank everyone who assisted in our journey and provided venues, tours,
meals, lodging, assistance in any way, smiles, cheers and faith in our
mission. Thank you tour riders for your week, away from home, family
and friends, living out of suitcases and on bikes, sleeping in hotel
rooms, eating on the run, riding in the rain, hot sun, pummeling wind and
sand on your bodies, a pretty tight schedule … man, you all are just so
awesome.
The
Polka Dot Tour, 2007 has completed their journey. Keep the mission going,
our voyage is far from over. Love to all.
